Artist's Statement :There's something very Zen and soothing I find about oil painting; I like to take my time, sometimes to achieve the desired realistic rendering, other times to explore by mixing and playing with the colours on the canvas - My favourite subjects to paint are still lives but am also currently working on delicate phyladelphus flowers and a winter scenery painting project - Regardless of what it is, the subject of my painting must deeply inspire me first. I must fall in love with it. Sometimes it is a place, a sight that catches my attention. Other times it is an object that evokes memories of a friend, of a moment in time or just an emotion, a feeling of well being. Also colours, interesting textures or shapes influence my choice; I like the challenge of trying things I haven't tried before.

artBlogKim's Bio : Early on in childhood I have demonstrated a passion for drawing. At age six, seeing that I exhibited such an interest and unusual talent for my early age, my parents introduced me Sister Albertine Mallet, a Catholic nun that held oil painting classes to adult students once a week. I began with drawing and pastel and moved on to oil painting a year later, with my father and Sister Albertine’s other students until I reached the age of eleven years old – Later on I studied graphic design and traditional cartoon animation techniques. I finally picked-up on oil painting again in 2006 and have since kept on doing so as a hobby but I'm looking forward to produce more to hold a small exhibit in the near future.
